The east and west are about 124 kilometers wide, and the north and south are about 127 kilometers long and 9236 square kilometers. As of 2012, there are 4 towns and 16 townships under the jurisdiction of the county, with a total population of 251 villages with a population of 353,100. They are mainly Han people, including Hui, Mongolian, Tibetan, Uyghur, Miao, Yi, Zhuang, Buyi and Korean. 13 ethnic minorities including Manchu, Yi, Tujia and Jingpo. The hometown is one of the main producing areas of cashmere, wool, leather and various meat products in the northwest.
