The county is southeast of Hunan Xinhuang, west is Zhenyuan and Qigong, and the north is opposite Tongren City and Wanshan Special Zone. It is 36 kilometers away from east to west, 42 kilometers away from north to south, 516.6 square kilometers, and Pingxi Town, the county people's government resident. Originally Yuping County, it was built in the 5th year of Emperor Yongzheng of the Qing Dynasty (1727). On November 7, 1984, with the approval of the State Council, Yuping County was abolished and Yuping Yi Autonomous County was established.
