It is named after Yin Daozhen, a scholar of the Han Dynasty. Daozhen County is the northernmost part of Guizhou Province, which is the slope of Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau transition to Sichuan Basin. It is adjacent to Nanchuan District, Wulong County and Pengshui County in northwest and northeast China; it is connected to Zhengan County and Wuchuan County in southwest and southeast respectively. It is 180 kilometers away from Zunyi City, 338 kilometers away from Guiyang City, and 160 kilometers away from Chongqing City in the north. It is the “combination department” of the Yuzhong Economic Zone connecting the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Zone. By the end of 2010, Daozhen County had jurisdiction over 10 towns and 4 townships, with 244,159 permanent residents, including 18,047 ethnic minorities.
