It is between 25°29′-26°10′ north latitude and 117°29′-118°03′ east longitude. It is adjacent to Dehua in the east, Yongan in the west, Yongchun and Muping in the south, and Sanming, Shaxian and Youxi in the north. In the 14th year of Ming Jiajing (1535), Jian County was formed from Youxi, Dehua, Yong'an and Zhangping. The first name of the festival love, Xinmin, Jiajing forty-five years (1566) was renamed Datian County.
