Kwai Tsing DistrictIntroduction:Kwai Tsing District is one of the 18 administrative districts in Hong Kong. It is comprised of Kwai Chung District (1023 hectares) and Tsing Yi Island (960 hectares) in the south-west of the New Territories. According to the population and household statistics by the Census and Statistics Department, the population of Central Kwai Tsing District was about 516,600 in 2007. More than 75% of the residents lived in public housing. Apart from one of the world's busiest container terminals, Kwai Tsing District is also home to a number of major infrastructure projects in Hong Kong, including the Airport Railway, Route 3 and Lantau Link. This has made the area the most important transportation hub in Hong Kong. . In addition, many historical sites and traditional customs have been preserved in the district.
