Kuitun City is located in the southwestern margin of the Junggar Basin in the northern foot of the Tianshan Mountains. It is adjacent to Shawan County in the Tacheng area in the east, Wusu City in the Tacheng area in the west, Karamay District in the Karamay City in the north, and the Dushanzi District in Karamay City in the south. The administrative area is 1109.89 square kilometers and consists of 5 streets and an agricultural township. Kuitun City is a new industrial and commercial city in northwestern China. By the end of 2013, there were 156,700 people in Kuitun, composed of 34 ethnic groups including Han, Ha, Wei, Hui and Meng.
