It is the political and economic center of Jinan City, and is a “national demonstration central business district” located in the south-central part of Jinan. It is surrounded by Jinan City, adjacent to Lixia District in the east, adjacent to Licheng District in the south, adjacent to Huaiyin District in the west and adjacent to Tianqiao District in the north. In 2013, the area under its jurisdiction was 280 square kilometers, with 17 sub-district offices, 102 neighborhood committees and 77 administrative villages with a registered population of 585,000. As the central city of Jinan, Zhongzhong District is the political, economic, cultural and financial center of the city. In November 2011, Jinan Financial Business Center was identified as a pilot area for comprehensive reform of 10 service industries in the province.
