It is connected to Longsheng County and Rong'an County in the east, Rongshui County in the west, and Congjiang County in Guizhou Province. It is connected to the channel county of Hunan Province and Liping County of Guizhou Province to the north, and Rong'an County and Rongshui County to the south. The county town of Guyi is 203 kilometers away from Liuzhou City and 167 kilometers away from Guilin City. In 2013, Sanjiang Dong Autonomous County achieved a regional GDP of 3.726 billion yuan, an increase of 8.1% from 2012. By the beginning of 2014, Sanjiang Dong Autonomous County had jurisdiction over 15 townships (towns) with a population of 367,770 (2010), including Yi, Han, Miao, Yao and Zhuang.
