The core of the Central Plains Economic Zone Planning and the Zhengzhou Airport Economic Comprehensive Experimental Zone is the central city of Xuchang City. It is the resident of the Xuchang Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Municipal People's Government. As of 2013, Weidu District has jurisdiction over 12 streets and 1 provincial industrial cluster, with 97 communities. There are more than 60 ancient Chinese monuments such as Hanwei Ancient City, Fuling Bridge, Chunqiu Building, Cao Cao Shooting Lutai, Cao Yu Dengji by Zentai, and Shenhua Huayu Tomb.
